William Kenney Sr., 91, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2012. He lived in Roanoke for many years, having run many business ventures including Kenney's Restaurants and Bantam Markets. Born in Smokey Lake, Alberta, Canada, he was one of 13 children.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; his son, Bill Kenney Jr.; his daughters, Kathy Mathieu and Page Ball; along with grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Our family is grateful for our father's generosity, so in lieu of flowers, our family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 12088, Roanoke, VA 24022 or to Habitat for Humanity, 403 Salem Ave., Roanoke, VA 24016.
A time of visitation is planned at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012. A Celebration of the Life of William Kenney will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Rosalind Hills Baptist Church, 2712 Brandon Ave., SW, in Roanoke. The Rev. Brad Smith will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
